Translation is generally related to two things: the source language (SL) and the target language (TL). One way to teach translation is through cooperative learning. Cooperative learning is a solution to achieve the objectives of the translation course teaching process. The aim of this research is to find out the perceptions and challenges of fourth-semester Tadris English students at UINSI Samarinda in 2023-2024 in learning translation courses through cooperative learning.
The design of this research is quantitative descriptive research. The researcher analyzed the data using percentage values and average values. The instrument used in this research was a questionnaire. The researcher uses closed questions to collect data. The researcher used 24 questions with 5 Likert scale options. Consisting of 18 positive statements and 6 negative statements. In this research, the questionnaire link was distributed via WhatsApp groups. The population and sample in this research were students of the fourth semester (TBI 3) Tadris English class at UINSI Samarinda. There were 25 students in this study.
Based on the results of this research, the average perception of students (TBI 3) in Tadris English, fourth semester UINSI Samarinda, of learning translation through cooperative learning is 73.7%. It can be concluded that students' perceptions and challenges of learning translation through cooperative learning are classified as good. The statement with item 7 with the highest score is 103, or 82.4%, namely, working in a team—helps students gain information through group study. The statement with item 22 with the lowest score is 73, or 57.6%, namely, the classroom becomes noisy through group study.
